Winter Now, Summer Later!
Share
We know, we know - right now summer seems far away - the mornings are dark and frosty, your thick socks are out and the hot chocolates are flowing. But somewhere in the back of your mind (between school drop-offs and digging tiny gloves out of drawers), you’re dreaming of summer!
Beach days, road trips, airport excitement, and that magic moment when you unzip a suitcase and officially switch to holiday mode!
So, let’s get daydreaming!
Because while the weather’s cold, the planning doesn’t have to be.
Here’s how to daydream-pack now for your next summer holiday - without stress, without chaos, and with a little help from your favourite packing cubes for kids ;)
Step 1: Pick the Destination (Even If It’s Only in Your Head)
Are you imagining a caravan on the coast? A tropical island escape? A family farm stay?
Choose your dream destination and write it down. This helps you visualise what you’ll need - like swimmers, sun hats, bug spray, and bedtime books for balmy nights. Even better, let your kids help choose! Turning it into a mini vision board or a "pretend itinerary" can make it feel real (and keeps them busy on cold weekends!).
Step 2: Build a Summer Packing Cube Now
Set aside a single cube and start slowly filling it with little things that scream “holiday vibes”:
-
A pair of fun swimmers
-
Their favourite sunglasses
-
A lightweight t-shirt
-
Sandals that still fit (for now!)
-
A small toy or book for the trip
It's a great head start when the real packing begins (or if you decide to plan a last-minute sunny escape during winter!)
Step 3: Rotate + Refresh
As the seasons shift, you can swap items in and out of their cubes: try on clothes to check sizes, remove anything that’s more “winter escape” than “summer holiday,” and sneak in a surprise (like a new travel journal or a favourite snack or toy).
You’ll avoid the last-minute scramble and get that satisfying I’m-already-on-top-of-this feeling.
Daydream-Packing is a great time to Declutter!
While pulling out summer pieces, you’ll likely spot things that no longer fit, are too worn, or never get used. Pop those aside to donate or toss—and make space for new holiday essentials.
Less clutter. More calm. One cube at a time.
